At the risk of incurring our own IRS audit, the Republican Party of Dane County stands firmly with Governor Walker in calling for a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS for the agency’s admitted practice of unfairly scrutinizing legitimate organizations.  Furthermore, we also strongly oppose any attempt to institute a similar litmus test here in the City of Madison.

‘Identify a society’s core philosophy and you can predict its future.’

Thus spoke the libertarian philosopher and influential novelist and essayist Ayn Rand. More than thirty years after her death, Rand’s wise tenet can be seen to hold an entire world of truth as societies based on force and the denial of free-market realities implode throughout the globe.

Ayn Rand’s Early Life Born Alisa Zinov’yevna Rosenbaum on 2 February, 1905 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Ayn Rand began writing novels at the age of ten. A first-hand witness to the Russian Revolution and the totalitarian horrors it precipitated, the young writer grew up to be profoundly influenced by the philosophies of Plato and Aristotle. Determined to escape the growing oppression rife in her native land, she applied for and was granted...

The Republican Party of Dane County received a prestigious Wisconsin Award at the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s annual state convention this past weekend.  The Wisconsin Award is one of the highest awards a county party can receive from the state party.  Growing membership, participating in local parades and festivals, and regularly holding forums on current issues are just a few of the activities Dane County Republicans did to qualify for this award.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) spokesman Graeme Zielinski was demoted on Monday for comparing Governor Walker to Jeffrey Dahmer. The Republican Party of Dane County found this development interesting, since we had always assumed that DPW leadership had no idea what Graeme was saying.

  • This election is a choice between two very different visions for our nation’s future – and neither the United States nor our allies around the world can afford another four years like the last four years.
  • Last night’s debate confirmed that Mitt Romney has a strong command of foreign policy and national security and is ready to be the next commander in chief.
  • Governor Romney understands that America’s influence in the world is driven by economic strength, military strength, our strong relationships with our allies and the power of our ideals and values.

President Obama’s lack of leadership during the last four years becomes more evident in his foreign policy. Along with his failure to restore our economy, Obama’s passivity abroad and devastating defense cuts have hurt American influence throughout the world. Mitt Romney will take us on a different path and will reestablish our influence and respect by restoring our defense cuts, supporting those in the Middle East who share our values and will turn around our economy here at home. The American people deserve a president who is willing to get off the sidelines and be honest about the challenges our nation faces.

This election is a choice between two very different visions for our nation’s future – and that choice will be on full display at the debate this Wednesday.
  • Barack Obama doesn't have a record to run on or a plan for the future.
  • Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are offering exactly what our nation needs – real reforms for a real recovery.
  • Whether we’re talking about jobs, health care, debt, taxes, or foreign policy, the choice this election is clear.
  • Under President Obama, we will have four more years of the last four years, with a stagnant economy that fosters government dependency and a foreign policy that makes the world less safe.
  • When Mitt Romney is president, our nation will have pro-growth policies that foster upward mobility – and lift people out of poverty – and we will ensure peace through American leadership and strength.

RPDC: Judge Colás, you’ve been taking a lot of heat for overturning a law that saved the jobs of thousands of teachers and improved the quality of education across the state while lowering property taxes. How do you respond to that criticism?
Colás: Can we take cash from test scores or property taxes to help get Democrats elected? No? Then why do I care?
RPDC: Well what about the 1st Amendment guarantee to freedom of assembly?
Colás: That’s in the Constitution? Are you sure? Hey Maryann, do we have a copy of the Constitution left or did we shred them all? [shuffles through the trash] I can’t find one around here…. Eh. Whatever.

In a totally-not-politically-partisan, nothing-to-do-with-winning-elections decision, the Madison City Council is seriously considering a law that would require all Madison landlords to hand voter registration at their own expense to all new tenants, and to inform them of the procedure for handing in those documents and becoming registered.
